Amman: The arrival of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Amman, Jordan, on Tuesday (Feb. 24, 2026) was more than an official working visit. Beyond the formal diplomatic agenda, an emotional and heartfelt reception unfolded as the Head of State arrived at his hotel.
Dozens of members of the Indonesian diaspora had gathered in the lobby, eagerly awaiting the President’s arrival. Indonesian students and community members in Jordan welcomed him with smiles and enthusiasm.
A particularly touching moment took place at the hotel entrance, where two Indonesian children, Arsyah and Carissa, dressed in traditional attire, presented flowers to President Prabowo and greeted him, saying, “Welcome to Amman, Mr. President.” Prabowo responded warmly, smiling and saying, “Thank you.”
The lobby soon filled with applause and greetings. For Indonesian students in Jordan, the President’s presence felt personal and meaningful.
Lulu, a student at the University of Jordan, said she and her peers had been eagerly anticipating the visit. She described the occasion as a source of pride and joy for Indonesian students abroad.
“We are all very happy about his arrival and very proud to welcome him to Jordan,” she said, as quoted by Antara on Wednesday 25 February, 2026.
Lulu added that she was deeply impressed when President Prabowo took the time to encourage the students. “He offered words of encouragement for all of us studying in Jordan. I was very happy because he was so friendly,” she said.
Other students, including Falihah and Isma, shared similar sentiments, describing their first in-person meeting with the President as unforgettable.
“Honestly, meeting President Prabowo in person for the first time was truly a great joy,” they said.
Firas, Rendi, and Faruq were equally enthusiastic, saying the opportunity to shake hands with the Head of State was a treasured moment.
“I was happy to meet President Prabowo in person, and thank God I was able to shake his hand. I’m so grateful and happy,” they said.
The warm gathering that evening felt especially meaningful as it took place during the holy month of Ramadan. Amid a strong sense of togetherness and spirituality, the Indonesian diaspora in Amman experienced a special moment in welcoming and meeting President Prabowo firsthand.
