BGN Reform Saves Hundreds of Billions of Rupiah

Jakarta: Head of the Government Communication Agency Muhammad Qodari said reforms to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) had saved hundreds of billions of rupiah in state funds.
 
“The BGN evaluated nearly 28,000 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) across Indonesia and found 414 units that had yet to begin operations but were already receiving budget disbursements or held duplicate virtual accounts. These findings allowed hundreds of billions of rupiah to be returned to the state treasury,” Qodari said as reported by Antara on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
 
The evaluation comes as part of a broader overhaul of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, carried out under the leadership of former BGN Head Nanik S. Deyang. To date, eleven measures have been implemented to strengthen governance and improve the program’s delivery.
 
Former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and newly appointed BGN Head Sudaryono has reaffirmed his commitment to continuing Nanik’s efforts to build a more reliable and responsive agency.
 
“The leadership change does not in any way shift or diminish the government’s core commitment. The MBG program remains a top priority and an important part of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision,” Qodari said.
