200 Sekolah Rakyat Under Construction with IDR 2 Trillion Budget

Jakarta: Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that the construction of 100 Sekolah Rakyat in the initial stage will cost more than IDR 1 trillion.

"The total is probably around IDR 1 trillion, for the 100 schools in the initial stage. Meanwhile, the 100 in the initial stage are around IDR 1.1 trillion," said Dody, while reviewing the progress of preparations for the Sekolah Rakyat at the Handayani Center, Jakarta, quoted on Monday, June 30, 2025, quoted from Setkab.go.id.

Dody added that the construction of all the Sekolah Rakyat in the initial and advanced stages involved more than 2,000 workers from various regions.

"In total, for the 200 schools, we need around IDR 2 trillion and involve maybe more than 2,000 workers from all over Indonesia," said Dody.

Reviewing the progress of Sekolah Rakyat preparations

Accompanied by Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, and Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy directly checked the dormitory facilities and classrooms.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy even tried out the students' beds and study chairs to ensure the comfort and suitability of the facilities. He also had a dialogue with prospective students and parents and invited them to see the people's school facilities directly.

"We ask that through Cabinet Secretary Teddy, President Prabowo later, adjusting his time, can directly inaugurate the Sekolah Rakyat,” said Gus Ipul.

To Cabinet Secretary Teddy, parents of students and prospective students, Gus Ipul explained that the preparations for the Sekolah Rakyat which were almost final were not the work of the Ministry of Social Affairs alone, but the result of collaborative work across ministries from the beginning. He especially appreciated the fast work of the Ministry of Public Works, which deployed more than 100 workers and worked for 24 hours for the construction of the Sekolah Rakyat in Sentra Handayani. Likewise at other points of the Sekolah Rakyat.

"There are more than 100 workers working for 24 hours. This also opens up employment opportunities and that's several points, more than 100 points," he explained.
