Kuantan Singingi: The Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) District Police have destroyed 843 illegal mining rafts and arrested 12 individuals tied to unauthorized gold mining (PETI) activities along the Kuantan River in Riau.

The operations were carried out in collaboration with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. All equipment found at the sites was incinerated to prevent further illegal mining activities.

Kuantan Singingi Police Chief AKBP Hidayat Perdana said his office had also established a task force dedicated to cracking down on unauthorized gold mining (PETI) at the regency level.

The task force will work with relevant agencies and local communities to combat illegal mining practices.

“They will raise awareness [about the dangers of illegal mining], in line with the Green Police program,” Hidayat said during a Metro TV Headline News broadcast on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
