President Prabowo Arrives at NTT, Monitors Directly Post-Earthquake Response Efforts

Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto has arrived in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026. 

The president is to monitor the evacuees' condition and the response of the earthquake's impact in some regions in NTT.

"Prabowo was welcomed at the site by several relevant state officials. He is set to receive a briefing on the progress of the earthquake response during a limited meeting at the Kodam IX/Udayana Natural Disaster Response Command Post," quoted from the Breaking News Metro TV program. 

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the Head of State's visit to NTT. The visit aims to assess the condition of the local community and ensure that disaster response efforts and the provision of aid to residents are proceeding optimally.

Healthcare support for affected communities also continues to be developed through the deployment of various disaster-response healthcare facilities.

"KRI Soeharso-900 of TNI Angkatan Laut (Indonesian Air Force) has docked at Reo Harbour, Manggarai Regency, which functions as a field hospital (RS). Meanwhile, RS Kapal Ksatria is already at Nangalirang Bay, East Manggarai Regency, to support the healthcare services of the people," said Pras, the nickname for Prasetyo.

At the regional level, Pras added that two field hospitals have also been operating. Each is at the District General Hospital (RSUD) of Ruteng, Manggarai Regency, for surgical services, with 29 surgeries carried out cumulatively. Next, at RSUD Aeremo, Nagekeo Regency, to support emergency healthcare services and surgical procedures, as well as treatment for earthquake victims.

Pras emphasized that the efforts to address the impacts of the NTT earthquake will not end in the emergency response phase. 

"The government will ensure the recovery is continued in stages, not only through rehabilitation of affected facilities and services, but also reconstruction to rebuild the people's lives in a better way and sustainably," said Pras.

The government is committed to continuing its efforts so that those affected in NTT do not feel they are left to cope with the disaster on their own.
