Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto outlined seven key directions during a limited disaster management meeting at the Aceh National Disaster Management Support Post, Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base, Aceh Besar. The meeting was held on Sunday evening, December 7, 2025.
According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya's remarks at the meeting, the President emphasized the need for speed, accuracy, and consistency of action from all government elements. This is to ensure the safety and recovery of residents affected by floods and landslides in Aceh and other parts of Sumatra.
"First, the importance of speed, accuracy, and consistency of action from all government elements to ensure the safety and recovery of affected residents," said Teddy in an official statement from the Cabinet Secretary in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara, Monday, December 8, 2025.
The Head of State also emphasized that integrated operations between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), and local governments must continue to be strengthened, particularly in restoring connectivity in disrupted areas and accelerating aid distribution.
Regarding the numerous homes damaged by flash floods, the President stated that reconstruction support would be a priority in the post-disaster recovery phase. Although a number of challenges remain on the ground due to natural conditions that must remain vigilant, the government is committed to handling the situation in a gradual, measured, and sustainable manner.
The President also requested that aid distribution be managed more carefully, ensuring the availability and timely distribution of medical supplies as a priority.
Furthermore, Prabowo highlighted the importance of maintaining clothing for affected residents, both through government programs and public participation in the form of donations of suitable clothing.
At the end of his remarks, the President emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and clean governance throughout the disaster management process. He expressed his appreciation for the strong synergy between the central and regional governments, joint apparatus, volunteers, and the community, who are considered a key force in accelerating recovery in the affected areas.
