Minister to Investigate Alleged Use of Cibinong Prison Staff Housing by Inmates 

Jakarta: Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto will investigate the alleged use of staff housing at Cibinong Class IIA Prison by inmates.

Agus made the statement during a surprise inspection of Cibinong Class IIA Prison.

“We will investigate whether these staff houses are actually being used as staff housing or are being used for other purposes. It is our responsibility to investigate this,” Agus said, as quoted by Breaking News Metro TV on Friday, September 25, 2026.

Cibinong Class IIA Prison in Pondok Rajeg, Bogor Regency, West Java, has come under scrutiny after an Ombudsman RI team discovered a luxurious building equipped with a living room, bedrooms, dining area, kitchen, television, refrigerator, and various household furnishings.

The discovery of the luxurious facility at Cibinong Prison has drawn attention to several inmates held there, including Ferdy Sambo and Harvey Moeis.

Based on information gathered by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Community (MAKI), Sambo is alleged to have stayed in the area of the luxury house referred to as the Assimilation and Education Facility (SAE).

Sambo was also frequently seen in a block next to the prison chapel.

Harvey Moeis, who was convicted in the Timah governance corruption case, is also alleged to be among the inmates who received access to luxurious facilities at Cibinong Prison.

Other inmates reportedly include those convicted in the Asabri case, including Heru Hidayat, Teddy Tjokrosaputro, and Pieter Rasiman. Mochtar Riza Pahlevi Tabrani was also reportedly given access to the luxurious facilities.
