Sugiono Welcomes Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi to Jakarta

Jakarta: The Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, Jakarta, at Thursday night, August 20, 2026.

Sugiono was accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun and Vice of Indonesian Ambassador to China Irene.

As quoted by the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), Sugiono and Wang Yi are scheduled to chair the first Indonesia-China Comprehensive Strategic Dialog (CSD) meeting. This agenda will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026.

CSD is a new bilateral mechanism in the Minister of Foreign Affairs-level that was formed during Sugiono’s visit to Beijing in April 2025.

The forum is aimed to identify the achievements of corporations and determine the future strategic priority.

On the same day as the CSD meeting, Kemlu will also host the second meeting of 2+2 Dialog Mechanism between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Defense Minister of Indonesia and China.

The 2+2 meeting will be focused on the discussion of improving cooperation in the politic, defense, and security sector in the bilateral, regional, and global scale.

Those two agendas are parts of Indonesia and China’s efforts to strengthen comprehensive strategic partnerships relations between two countries.
