Agam Flash Flood and Landslide Death Toll Rises to 120, Thousands Displaced

Agam: The number of victims killed in the flash floods and landslides that struck Agam Regency has risen to 120 people, with casualties recorded across six sub-districts.

“This is the confirmed figure as of Sunday, November 30, at 11:00 p.m.,” said Agam Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Head Rahmat Lasmono, quoted by Antara on Monday, December 1, 2025.

The fatalities were reported in Malalak (12), Matur (1), Tanjung Raya (8), Palupuh (1), Palembayan (97), and Ampek Nagari (1).

“Palembayan Sub-district recorded the highest number of victims,” Rahmat added.

Authorities are still searching for 74 missing residents. The missing persons are spread across Malalak (6), Palembayan (63), Lubuk Basung (1), and Tanjung Raya (4). A joint team from BPBD, Satpol PP, the Fire Department, Basarnas, TNI, Polri, and PMI Agam has been deployed to continue search operations.

“Police K9 units have also been mobilized to assist in locating victims,” Rahmat said.

Medical teams are treating 45 injured survivors, with 44 patients at Lubuk Basung Regional Hospital and one referred to M. Djamil General Hospital in Padang.

Meanwhile, 6,300 residents have been displaced, fleeing from flood- and landslide-affected areas across multiple districts including Palembayan, Ampek Nagari, Palupuh, Tanjung Raya, Tanjung Mutiara, Baso, Malalak, Banuhampu, Matur, Ampek Koto, and Lubuk Basung.

“They are now staying in relatives’ homes, prayer houses, schools, and other temporary shelters. We have opened public kitchens to ensure food supplies,” Rahmat said.
