Elementary School Matriculation be held for 3 Months

Jakarta: The School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) at the first 63 Elementary Schools has entered its second week and will soon conclude. Preparations for Elementary Schools will continue with the matriculation phase, which will last approximately three months.

"We ask the curriculum team to thoroughly prepare for the three-month matriculation period, because this is the first crucial stage for all of us," said Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) during the Socialization of the Elementary School Preparation Program, as reported in an official statement on Monday, July 28, 2025.

Gus Ipul explained that the long preparation period was not due to delays. Rather, Elementary Schools require a strong foundation mentally, academically, socially, and in character.

"So that children's transformation can occur comprehensively and sustainably," Gus Ipul told Elementary School principals and teachers.

There are several factors contributing to the longer preparation period for Elementary Schools. These include the diverse character of students, adaptation to the boarding system and high discipline, building bonds between students and between teachers and educational staff (Tendik), mapping academic levels, and reinforcing the school's core values.

Gus Ipul also outlined several important aspects of the preparation period that principals, teachers, and educational staff need to pay attention to. The first is patience.

"We are not constructing a physical building, we are building a civilization, starting with children who are educated with love, discipline, and noble national values. Therefore, patience with existing shortcomings is crucial," he said.

Gus Ipul invited principals, teachers, and students to create a pleasant environment, provide a sense of security, and humanize. He emphasized that at the People's School, differences are not a reason to hate each other but an opportunity to learn together.

Principals, teachers, and educational staff must also be consistent in adhering to rules, norms, and actions. Everything students see comes from role models: the parents at the People's School. Teachers, foster parents, dormitory guardians, and educational staff serve as the students' moral compass.

Equally important is bringing the heart into the educational process of the People's School students. Our children learn not only science and mathematics, but also empathy, collaboration, and humanity.

"This is true education that touches the mind and enlivens the heart. Therefore, we bring our hearts, we teach with our hearts, we educate with our hearts.

"We protect them with our hearts," he said.

During the preparation period, it's important to record all students' physical, mental, and academic conditions. Evaluations are conducted regularly, recorded, measured, and progressed.

"Remember, record what you do and do what you record," he said.
