Indroyono Soesilo said to be Strong Candidate for Indonesia Ambassador to the US

Jakarta: House Speaker Puan Maharani responded briefly to the issue of former Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo as a strong candidate for Indonesian ambassador to the United States (US). He is rumored to hold the strategic position.

"Is it true?" said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, July 3, 2025.

Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad also did not answer clearly. He also said the same thing as Puan.

Meanwhile, Puan asked for the results of the fit and proper test to wait at Commission I regarding the names of ambassador candidates proposed by the government. The names of the ambassador candidates are also still being kept secret by the DPR until later discussions.

"So later, wait for the Fit and Proper results from the DPR which will be carried out by Commission I. Starting today, Commission I will carry out the existing mechanisms in Commission I. To carry out Fit and Proper in Commission I," said Puan.

"The leadership of the council has received a letter from the President of the Republic of Indonesia number R3 dated July 1, 2025 regarding a request for consideration for candidates for the Republic of Indonesia's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ambassador to friendly countries and international organizations," said Puan.

Puan said that in accordance with the provisions of Article 231 of the DPR RI Regulation Number 1 of 2020 concerning the Rules of Procedure, the names of prospective ambassadors and recipient countries are kept confidential. In addition, the discussion meeting at Commission I of the DPR, including the results, will be carried out confidentially.

"The results of the discussion of the relevant commission are reported to the leadership of the DPR and the leadership of the DPR conveys the results of the discussion of the relevant commission to the President in secret," said Puan.
