President Prabowo and Chief of Police to Determine the Head of BNPT

Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto and Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo will determine the figure of the new Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT). This is because the position has been vacant since Commissioner General Eddy Hartono was transferred to Pati Densus 88 Anti-terror Polri in order to retire.

“For positions outside the police structure, it is in line with the policy of the President. However, this is also usually communicated with the Chief of Police,” said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Sandi Nugroho to reporters, Thursday, July 3, 2025.

“It is the same as the position of Deputy Chief of Police which is still vacant, while waiting for the decision of the Chief of Police. Including, for filling positions outside the structure, such as BNPT,” Sandi added.

Previously, Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo transferred a number of High-Ranking Officers (Pati) of the National Police. The mutation was stated in the Chief of Police Telegram Letter number ST/1421/VI/KEP./2025 dated June 24, 2025, signed by the Head of the Indonesian National Police Human Resources, Inspector General Anwar.

In the mutation telegram letter, there were at least four Pati Polri who appointed Commissioner Generals who were transferred in preparation for retirement. They are Commissioner General Setyo Budiyanto who currently serves as the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Setyo was transferred as Pati Itwasum Polri. Then, Commissioner General Eddy Hartono as the Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) was transferred as Densus 88 Anti-terror Polri Pati.

Then, Commissioner General Pudji Prasetijanto Hadi who is the Secretary General of the Ministry of ATR/BPN and Commissioner General Lotharia Latif as Inspector General of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. They were transferred as Pati Bareskrim Polri in preparation for retirement.
