Jakarta: Danantara Indonesia announced the selected operating partners for its Waste-to-Energy (WtE) or Pengolahan Sampah menjadi Energi Listrik (PSEL) facilities in Bekasi and Denpasar.

Following a comprehensive and disciplined partner selection process that attracted experienced international companies and a rigorous evaluation, Danantara Indonesia has selected Wangneng Environment Co., Ltd.to operate the Bekasi plant and Zhejiang Weiming Environment Protection Co., Ltd. to operate the Denpasar Raya plant.

Pursuant to the Presidential Decree No. 109/2025, these selections form part of Danantara Indonesia’s broader WtE/PSEL program, which aims to address waste challenges by strengthening municipal waste management, reduce reliance on landfill disposal, and support sustainable energy generation.

Consistent with Danantara Indonesia’s dual mandate, participating companies are required to form a consortium with local partners to ensure technology transfer and enhanced collaboration with local government and Indonesian companies.

Danantara Indonesia also emphasizes strong upstream governance, including a selection process that is transparent and grounded in risk mitigation.

Pandu Sjahrir, Chief Investment Officer of Danantara Indonesia, said, “Today’s announcement marks a significant step in ensuring the Waste-to-Energy facilities are managed with the highest standards of operational reliability, safety, and accountability.

“We will continue to work closely with our partners, local governments and relevant stakeholders to deliver measurable progress in waste reduction and clean energy generation,” said Pandu, quoted from Danantara statement.

“The selected partners will be expected to deliver consistent operational performance, maintain compliance with all applicable requirements, and support sustained engagement with surrounding communities,” he added.

Danantara Indonesia remains committed to advancing integrated waste management solutions that create long-term environmental and social value for communities across Indonesia.
