Makassar: Peace in Gaza is a major concern for President Prabowo Subianto. Recently, there have been many statements regarding the Indonesian President's crucial role.
President Prabowo Subianto's crucial role in peace in Gaza was discussed at a National Seminar held at UIN Alauddin Makassar. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anis Matta stated that Indonesia's support for peace in Gaza is constitutional and even a religious obligation.
"Of course, what's more important now is our humanitarian obligation, but specifically, this is a historical debt that has not been repaid since President Sukarno convened the Asia-Africa Conference with a single narrative opposing imperialism and encouraging support for the independence process of all nations," he said in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Therefore, President Prabowo Subianto continues to take action to assist the people of Palestine, such as sending USD12 million to build public kitchens in Gaza.
"The total aid Indonesia has provided has reached US$36 million, including the delivery of 1,200 tons of humanitarian aid by air," said Anis Matta.
Anis Matta also revealed President Prabowo's new initiative to send peacekeeping troops under a UN mandate. Furthermore, health workers will also be deployed to the Gaza Strip to assist the Palestinian people.
"This is what distinguishes President Prabowo's administration. This is the first time Indonesia has expressed its readiness to be directly involved through peacekeeping troops," Anis Matta emphasized.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs ensured that the results of this academic forum would be summarized as policy input for relevant ministries and institutions. "The Gaza crisis is no longer just a Palestinian issue. It has become a test of international law and the global order," said Anis Matta.
Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto's statement at the UN forum regarding the two-state solution had sparked very positive global resonance.
"I've received many calls from friends abroad. They say we need to immediately provide a broader explanation. President Prabowo's statement has gone viral. Some are calling it the Prabowo solution, and some are even writing him as the second Sukarno," said Nasaruddin Umar.
With the positive support for President Prabowo Subianto, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has an interest in helping to accumulate and emphasize President Prabowo's strategic ideas through academic forums.
"The two-state solution he proposed has shocked many countries and reduced global tensions. We need to explain this systematically," said Nasaruddin Umar.
The Minister of Religious Affairs also emphasized that President Prabowo has demonstrated a swift and concrete stance, including Indonesia's readiness to send up to 20,000 peacekeeping personnel if needed.
"He offered a complete package of support. This is a form of leadership that is appreciated by the world. We need to translate all of this systematically to create a shared solution. This is where the academic world must play its role," explained Nasaruddin Umar.
