Tangerang: The Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in Tangerang has apprehended four foreign nationals from Pakistan and Nigeria for immigration violations at an apartment complex in Tangerang Regency. Two of them, both Pakistani citizens, were found to have entered Indonesia as fake investors.
“Two Pakistani nationals, identified as MI and DP, along with two Nigerian nationals, KO and SUN, were arrested following complaints and reports from the public regarding the presence and activities of these foreigners, which were deemed disturbing,” said Hasanin, Head of the Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in Tangerang, on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Hasanin explained that KO and SUN had overstayed their permitted stay in Indonesia for varying periods. “Meanwhile, the two Pakistani nationals held limited stay permits (ITAS) for investors. However, based on our investigation, their activities were suspicious and strongly indicated they were fake investors, and they were suspected of providing false information when applying for their stay permits,” he added.
Bong Bong Prakoso Napitupulu, Head of the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Division, said authorities had conducted thorough checks on the alleged violations. “Based on immigration database records, KO had overstayed for approximately three months, while SUN had overstayed for about two years,” Bong Bong said.
As for the Pakistani nationals, further checks into their sponsor — a company registered in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta — revealed no sign of the company’s existence or operations.
“Both Pakistani nationals were recorded as holding investor KITAS with Rp10 billion each in shares. However, upon questioning, they admitted having no knowledge of any investment or the sponsoring company,” Bong Bong explained.
He added that Immigration would coordinate with the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) to further verify the activities of the two Pakistani nationals.
“All four foreigners will face administrative immigration actions in the form of deportation and blacklisting, in accordance with Article 123 of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration,” Bong Bong stated.
