U.S Ambassador Lakhdhir Conclude her Tenure, Bid Farewell to Indonesia

Jakarta: United States Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir will conclude her tenure in country at the end of April, wrapping up a busy chapter in U.S.-Indonesia relations filled with dynamic partnership and mutual achievements across various sectors.  
 
“It has been an immense honor to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia,” said Ambassador Lakhdhir, as quoted from U.S Embassy statement, Tuesday, 22 April 2025.  

“I have been inspired by the creativity and resilience of the Indonesian people, and I am proud of the many ways Indonesians and Americans are working together on shared challenges to make our nations safer, stronger, and more prosperous.  I greatly appreciate the warm hospitality and friendship I felt here,” Ambassador Lakhdir. 

During her time in Indonesia, Ambassador Lakhdhir has worked tirelessly to strengthen and promote the strong bond of friendship between the United States and Indonesia.?

She has led efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas spanning education, trade, defense, and security.  
 
Before her departure, the Ambassador will meet with Indonesian counterparts and partners to reflect on shared progress and opportunities ahead.  

She will reaffirm the U.S. commitment to continued cooperation between the two nations.  Following her departure, the Deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta Heather C. Merritt will assume duty as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim.
