Jakarta: President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, received "The Bejeweled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda" or Order of the Renaissance award from King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The award was presented by King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein during his state visit to Indonesia on Friday, November 14, 2025, at a ceremony held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
The Bejeweled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda is one of the highest honors of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, awarded to kings, princes, and heads of state, and can also be conferred on the prime minister. This award has several levels, with the Bejeweled Grand Cordon being the highest and most prestigious of these honors and distinctions.
“This award reflects King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein's recognition and respect for President Prabowo's contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Jordan, particularly in cooperation in the fields of humanitarianism, regional stability, conservation, and global issues of concern to both countries,” as quoted from Presidenri.go.id, Saturday 15 November 2025.
The Bejeweled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda (Order of the Renaissance) is no casual honor. It has been awarded to a number of prominent world figures, from royal families to heads of state. Among the recipients are Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who is also the husband of Queen Elizabeth II; King Frederik X of Denmark; Queen Maxima of the Netherlands; Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany (2005-2021); and President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau. The list of recipients reflects the prestigious position this award holds in international diplomacy.
At the award ceremony, Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the award was not only an honor for Indonesia but also a recognition of President Prabowo's role in global leadership.
"It's a form of appreciation. I think it's also an honor for us, Mr. President, to receive it," Foreign Minister Sugiono stated in his statement to the media.
The award ceremony, held at the Merdeka Palace, further highlighted the warm and supportive relationship between Indonesia and Jordan, which has long been recognized, including cooperation on Palestinian issues, education, and global humanitarian missions. The award also honors President Prabowo's position as a leader who actively strengthens international dialogue and establishes Indonesia as a vital bridge for regional stability.
