Jakarta: The government and the DPR continue to monitor the handling of development on Enggano Island. This was done after President Prabowo Subianto issued a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) on the Acceleration of Development of Enggano Island, Bengkulu Province.
Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad emphasized that his party is focused on monitoring Pelindo in overcoming the shallowing of the port.
"Currently, Pelindo has started actively overcoming the shallowing of the port," said Dasco at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, quoted on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
The Executive of the Gerindra Party DPP also said that his party is monitoring the cooperation between Pelni and ASDP. This step is to ensure that public sea transportation access runs smoothly.
"We ensure that the cooperation between Pelni and ASDP in transporting people to ships in the middle of the sea runs smoothly," added Dasco.
He said that the DPR together with the team that was formed is currently reviewing other improvement steps. This was done to support the progress of the community on the outermost island.
In the same place, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that a collaborative approach with the DPR is a characteristic of the current government. This step is considered capable of accelerating every problem in the community.
"The resolution of the Enggano problem is carried out together. This is a new style that is more responsive," said Prasetyo.
He added that communication between the government and the DPR is now easy. "I can communicate directly with the DPR leadership because I also happened to have served there. So, the coordination is fast," he said.
Previously, Prasetyo ensured that President Prabowo had signed the Presidential Instruction regarding the acceleration of Enggano's development. The signing moment was also witnessed by Dasco and Cabinet Secretary Lt. Col. Teddy Indra Wijaya.
"This Presidential Instruction is the government's commitment to maintaining sovereignty and equitable development," Prasetyo wrote in an Instagram post on June 24, 2025. He also expressed his gratitude to the President, DPR, and all parties who moved quickly.
A similar video was also uploaded by Dasco. He said the DPR immediately coordinated with the President after hearing complaints from the Enggano community. "We immediately held a meeting with the relevant ministries and this Presidential Instruction was born to help the Enggano community. Thank you, Mr. President," said Dasco.
Previously, member of Commission VI of the DPR Rieke Diah Pitaloka highlighted the sea transportation crisis that has hit Enggano Island since the end of March 2025. She said the shallowing of the Pulau Baai Port channel was the main cause of the interruption of ship services. Rieke also asked for an emergency status to be declared.
"I support the proposal of the Indigenous Peoples Alliance of the Bengkulu Region so that the condition of Enggano be declared an emergency," said Rieke in a video on Instagram, June 23, 2025.
