Jakarta: Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya outlined the outcomes of a five-hour meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday 13, April 2026.

He said the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation in strategic sectors, including energy and mineral resources and downstream processing.

“Several points were agreed upon, including long-term cooperation in the energy and mineral resources sector, particularly in oil and gas energy security and downstream development,” Teddy said in a statement quoted on Antara, on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.

Beyond energy, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in areas with direct impact on national development.

“This includes continued collaboration in education, research, technology, agriculture, and investment across various sectors, particularly industrial development in Indonesia,” he added.

He said the meeting at the Kremlin Palace began with a two-hour bilateral session, followed by a one-on-one meeting between the two leaders.

During the bilateral session, Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy.

Following the talks, Teddy highlighted Russia’s strategic role on the global stage, noting that the partnership with Indonesia is increasingly relevant and important.

“We recognize Russia’s strategic global position, including its role as a veto-wielding member of the United Nations Security Council and a founding member of BRICS,” he said.

He added that Russia is also one of the world’s major powers with vast natural resources, making it a key partner for Indonesia in advancing long-term development.

"Russia is one of the world's major powers with the largest natural resources in the world," Teddy pointed out.

The meeting between Prabowo and Putin reflects strengthening bilateral ties over the past year.

“President Prabowo and President Putin last met in December in Moscow and have met five times on various occasions over the past year,” Teddy said.
