Bekasi Train Crash, Most of the Passenger who Died are Confirmed to be Women

Bekasi: 15 passengers died in the train collision at East Bekasi Station, Bekasi City, West Java, the body have been confirmed to be women.

"All of the women we saw were in productive year, studying and working," said PT KAI Vice President of Corporate Communications, Anne Purba, in Bekasi, Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Anne explained that the process of identifying all the victims is still ongoing. Five of the 15 victims have been identified. Meanwhile, nine others are still being identified by relevant authorities.

Anne also confirmed that the drivers of the two trains that collided, which injured dozens of people, are safe.

"Thank God, thank God," said Anne.

However, she stated that several KAI crew members had to be taken to the hospital following the incident.

"Although some of our crew members are currently in the hospital, they are being checked, as they are active. We want to ensure their physical condition is also good," said Anne.

Anne expressed her apologies and deep condolences for the incident. "So, first of all, I must apologize and offer my deepest condolences for this incident," she said.
