Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto attended the inauguration and introduction of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Board for the 2025–2030 term at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

The event was attended by a number of senior officials, including MUI Chairman Anwar Iskandar; Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council and former Vice President Jusuf Kalla; Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani; Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque and Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar; as well as members of the Red and White Cabinet.

According to Antara, worshippers from various Islamic organizations began filling the Istiqlal Mosque complex as early as 7:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), with some arriving since dawn. Dressed predominantly in white, the congregation filled the main prayer hall and extended to the fourth and fifth floors of the mosque.

Security and support personnel from multiple agencies, including firefighters and health workers, were deployed at the venue, along with additional security forces and metal detectors.

Data from the Indonesian Ulema Council showed that at least 56,000 worshippers from various regions across Indonesia attended the event.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Head of the MUI Disaster Management Division, Nusron Wahid, said the event was held at a time when the nation is facing multiple challenges, particularly floods, landslides, and other hydrometeorological disasters in several regions, which have resulted in casualties and significant losses.

“In circumstances like these, the Indonesian nation needs spiritual strength, unity, and social awareness,” Nusron said.

“The United Prayer and Munajat for the Safety of the Nation serves as both an inner effort and a message of solidarity and empathy for those affected by disasters,” he added.

The pre-event activities began at 7:30 a.m. WIB with a hadroh performance by Al-Mabruk Nusantara, featuring H. Muhammad Zaki Maulana Kamal and Agus Ragil of Ahbabul Mustofa, Greater Tangerang.

President Prabowo was welcomed at 10:00 a.m. WIB with Mahalul Qiyam (Shalawat Badr) performed by Al-Mabruk. The event then continued with the singing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya.

This was followed by a symbolic handover of aid for mosque rehabilitation and the construction of 500 homes for caretakers and Quran teachers affected by disasters in Sumatra. The ceremony also marked the inauguration of the MUI Muslim Disaster Rescue Team through the symbolic pinning of jackets, as well as the distribution of replacement certificates to disaster-affected residents.

At 10:55 a.m. WIB, the MUI Secretary General read the decree on the composition of the MUI Leadership Council. The inauguration continued with the recitation of the oath of allegiance led by the MUI Chairman, formally confirming the leadership for the 2025–2030 term.

The event concluded with remarks from President Prabowo, followed by a group photo session and closing remarks from the master of ceremonies.
