Indonesia Backs Two-State Solution, Prabowo Endorses New York Declaration

New York: President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia's support for the New York Declaration, which states that the two-state solution is the only path to lasting peace for Palestine and Israel.

This speech was delivered at the High-Level International Conference for a Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question at UN Headquarters in New York, United States, on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The New York Declaration was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on September 12.

"Indonesia once again reiterates its commitment to the Two-State Solution. Only the Two-State Solution will bring peace, because we must ensure the security of the Palestinian state," Prabowo said.

"The New York Declaration has provided a peaceful and just path to security and peace," he continued.

Prabowo also emphasized that recognizing the state of Palestine is not only a moral obligation, but also a crucial prerequisite for regional security and the future of Israel itself.

In a forum also attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Prabowo welcomed the New York Declaration as an important step to provide a "peaceful and just path to security and peace."

The declaration urged world nations to immediately recognize Palestine and begin the concrete process toward establishing an independent state.

Prabowo also commended countries such as France, Canada, Australia, and Portugal for recognizing Palestine, calling the move "on the right side of history." He urged other countries not to take action.

"History will not wait. We must recognize Palestine now," he stressed.
