Jakarta: Israeli forces have intercepted all vessels participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission, according to a statement on the Instagram account @globalsumudflotilla early Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

This brings the total number of Indonesian citizens participating in the mission to nine, following the arrest of two activists who were still sailing to break the Gaza blockade.

"We are still awaiting further information regarding this illegal kidnapping," wrote the Global Sumud Flotilla account.

"For Palestine, we will not stop," it continued.

Previously, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had coordinated with the Indonesian Embassies in Ankara, Cairo, Rome, and Amman, as well as the Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul, to prepare measures to protect Indonesian citizens.

These anticipatory measures include issuing Travel Documents instead of Passports (SPLP) if the Indonesian citizens' passports are confiscated, and providing medical support if needed.

The Indonesian representative also approached local authorities to ensure transit access and that the repatriation process for Indonesian citizens could proceed without immigration obstacles.
