Jakarta: The deteriorating security situation in Lebanon due to military operations has drawn sharp criticism from the Indonesian government.
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs consistently and firmly condemns Israel's continued military aggression in South Lebanon.
The Israeli attacks are considered not only to fuel regional instability but also to significantly increase the safety risks for peacekeeping personnel (UNIFIL) and further undermine the mandate of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Acting Director of International Peace and Security at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Veronica Vicka Ancilla Rompis, highlighted the real danger of this military escalation, particularly regarding the incident that claimed the life of a peacekeeper.
"Israel's continued military operations in South Lebanon, including statements about maintaining a presence in the region, risk further destabilizing the situation and endangering peacekeeping personnel," Rompis stated today.
Regarding the investigation into the deaths of the three Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers, Rompis emphasized that if Israel is fully proven to be the perpetrator, Indonesia will not hesitate to take strong action.
"If the results of a full investigation confirm this, the Indonesian government will strongly condemn Israel for this action, which constitutes a serious violation of international law," she stressed.
Concluding her statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned the international community not to allow this violation to continue.
"Indonesia reiterates that the safety and security of UN peacekeeping personnel is non-negotiable," Rompis concluded.
