Cairo: The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, arrived at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport, the Arab Republic of Egypt, to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit on Monday, October 13, 2025. The Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying the Head of State and his entourage arrived at approximately 7:00 a.m. local time.
Seeing the Head of State's arrival in Sharm El-Sheikh were Egyptian Presidential Chamberlain Mohammed Mokhtar, Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Lutfi Rauf, and the Defense Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, Navy Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin. The Head of State and his entourage departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base at 12:20 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
“During his stay in Egypt, the Head of State is scheduled to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit. At this summit, President Prabowo is scheduled to witness the signing ceremony of the peace agreement and the cessation of hostilities in Gaza,” as quoted from Setkab.go.id, Monday, 13 October 2025.
The summit is also planned to be attended by several Heads of State and Government, including United States President Donald Trump, Jordan's King Abdullah II, Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, French President Emmanuel Macron, Saudi Arabian Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
President Prabowo's invitation to the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit demonstrates Indonesia's important role in promoting peace in the Middle East, particularly regarding the Gaza conflict. Furthermore, it demonstrates Indonesia's commitment to maintaining world order, as mandated by the preamble to the 1945 Constitution.
Accompanying the Indonesian President on the flight from Jakarta were Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
