Lima: The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Lima, Peru, is closely monitoring the investigation and repatriation process following the fatal shooting of one of its staff, Zetro Leonardo Purba.

“The Embassy in Lima is still coordinating with local authorities regarding the repatriation of Zetro’s remains after the autopsy has been completed,” said Judha Nugraha, Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a written message to the media on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

“It is expected that within the next few days, his remains can be brought back to Indonesia,” he added.

Earlier, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte personally apologized to President Prabowo Subianto over the killing of the Indonesian diplomat in Lima. Boluarte conveyed the apology via a phone call with Prabowo.

She assured President Prabowo that the Peruvian government would extend full assistance during the investigation and immediately identify both the mastermind and perpetrators behind the attack.

Zetro was fatally shot by an unidentified assailant after withdrawing cash from an ATM on September 3. He was believed to have been followed, and upon arriving at his apartment, was confronted in an attempted robbery.

Witnesses reported hearing three gunshots. Although Zetro was rushed to the hospital, he did not survive.
