Banda Aceh: Personnel from the Banda Aceh City Military District Command (Kodim 0101) have incinerated a 2.5-hectare marijuana plantation in Indrapuri, Aceh Besar Regency.

“We discovered the marijuana plantation and destroyed it today. Based on our observations, the crops appeared to be around two to three months old,” said Deputy Commander of Kodim 0101/KBA, Lieutenant Colonel Muhsin, during a Metro TV Headline News broadcast on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

The plantation was uncovered following reports of suspicious activity from local residents. Upon inspection, authorities discovered a large illegal plantation.

The site was hidden in a secluded area with extremely difficult terrain. More than a dozen Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers hiked for about an hour, crossing rivers and navigating slippery mountain slopes. Upon arrival, they immediately began clearing the field.

Soldiers uprooted and gathered thousands of marijuana plants, ranging from one to one-and-a-half meters in height, before incinerating them. Fertilizer found near the field is suspected to have been used to boost the plants’ growth.

Authorities were unable to locate any suspects at the scene. Investigations are ongoing.
