New York: Indonesia has conveyed strong demands to the United Nations (UN) following the deaths of three Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

In an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC), the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to the UN, Umar Hadi, urged an independent investigation by the UN and rejected all excuses from Israel.

"I want to emphasize that we demand an investigation by the United Nations, not an excuse from Israel," said Ambassador Umar Hadi, as reported by UN Web TV, Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Indonesia also requested the UNSC to continue monitoring the investigation process and immediately follow up on its results.

Furthermore, Indonesia emphasized that the perpetrators of the attack must be held legally accountable and that there must be no impunity in cases of attacks on peacekeepers.

"We demand that the perpetrators be held legally accountable. Impunity must not be the norm, and attacks on peacekeepers must never be repeated or tolerated," Ambassador Umar Hadi emphasized.

Indonesia also demands a firm guarantee from all parties to the conflict, including Israel, to comply with their obligations under international law, cease attacks and aggressive actions that endanger UN personnel and facilities, and refrain from actions that could further escalate the conflict.

Previously, three Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel from Task Force Konga XXIII-S under the UNIFIL mission were killed in South Lebanon due to the escalating conflict in late March 2026.

The first incident occurred on Monday, March 30, 2026, killing Private Farizal Rhomadhon due to a projectile explosion near a guard post. A day later, Captain Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan also died after the logistics vehicle they were escorting was hit by an explosion during an attack on a convoy.

In addition to the fatalities, five other personnel were reportedly injured and are currently undergoing intensive care at St. George Hospital in Beirut.
