Jakarta: The Financial Services Authority (OJK), together with several capital market stakeholders, is accelrating reforms of the national stock market.

The reforms aim to strengthen market integrity and restore investor confidence amid pressure on the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG).

As reported on Metro TV's Zona Bisnis program on Friday, November 6, 2026, the reforms are considered one of the biggest overhauls in the history of Indonesia's capital market, aimed at protecting financial system stability and restoring the confidence of domestic and global investors.

The move was accelerated after the Jakarta Composite Index fell 16.7 percent as of October 30, 2026. This prompted regulators to tighten supervision and introduce several rules to keep stock trading stable.

In its implementation, OJK is cooperating with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the Indonesian Clearing and Guarantee Corporation (KPEI), and the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI).

This cooperation includes stronger monitoring of unusual transactions, including detecting coordinated trading patterns.

Besides tightening supervision, regulators are also preparing several market stabilization measures. One of them is lowering the lower auto-rejection limit (ARB) from 15 percent to 7 percent.

Regulators have also extended the policy allowing listed companies to buy back shares without approval from a General Meeting of Shareholders (RUPS) until June 30, 2027.

OJK Board of Commissioners Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi said the national economy's fundamentals and the performance of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange remain solid amid market fluctuations.

"We hope that with the strong fundamentals of our economy and the companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, things will keep improving going forward," Friderica said at a press conference of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) in Jakarta.

Friderica added that efforts to recover and strengthen the capital market require cooperation and support from all stakeholders, including investors and the media.

Through these reforms, OJK and capital market authorities are cooperating to strengthen the governance of stock trading while maintaining market players' confidence in Indonesia's capital market.
