Tokopedia Invited by DPR to Provide Clarification on Layoffs

Jakarta: The House of Representatives (DPR) has called a closed-door meeting with TikTok officials and the Ministry of Manpower following mass layoffs at Tokopedia.
“We, at the DPR, are aware of the social media uproar over recent layoffs at Tokopedia. We have invited representatives from both TikTok China and TikTok Indonesia –,the entity that acquired Tokopedia,– to attend the meeting,” Deputy Speaker of the House Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, during a Metro TV Breaking News broadcast on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Dasco elaborated that TikTok officials had been invited to provide clarification on the company’s corporate structure. The DPR aims to assess whether workers’ rights have been protected amid organizational restructuring.
Minister of Manpower Yassierli also attended the meeting to review the situation from the perspective of national labor regulations. The House expressed hope that the dialogue would lead to a transparent and favorable resolution.
While PT Tokopedia management denied rumors of mass layoffs affecting its employees. Management has established the current company policy, purely as a step to restructure the organization and implement an internal company mobility program.
"There are no layoffs at TikTok or the Tokopedia Group. What is happening is the workforce restructuring we are implementing and internal mobility within TikTok or the Tokopedia Group," said PT Tokopedia President Director Stephanie Susilo at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta.
Stephanie clarified that during this restructuring program, a number of employees have voluntarily made personal decisions regarding their career futures.
Some have chosen to accept the compensation package offered by the company. Meanwhile, others have been retained and distributed to various business lines within the group's ecosystem.
